The last several weeks Incline has been very smoky from the Caldor fire which has devastated South Lake Tahoe and destroyed over 600 homes.
Thousands of residents and tourists had to evacuate. Highway 50 east to Carson City was clogged with cars for several days. Highway 50 west toward Sacramento is closed. Over 4600 firefighters were battling blazes which scorched 0ver 214,000 acres and nearly reached Kirkwood and Heavenly ski areas. The fire is currently only 37% contained. Eldorado National Forest and Humboldt National Forest are closed.
If you don’t live here or have business here, don’t come here. Highway patrol is stopping traffic at highway 50 and 28 on the east side of the lake and checking ID’s.
So far we are fortunate on the North Shore and thank the firefighters who have so valiantly kept this blaze from reaching our community.
We send our best thoughts to our neighbors on the South Shore and hope they will rapidly recover from this terrible tragedy.
