Does the Village want more tourists? The answer is not a yes or no.
Yes, we need tourists to support our local businesses because our businesses need them to buy here, stay here and ski here. But like any tourist area this does create consequences. We have more traffic congestion on our local streets and overcrowding in our recreation venues. More visitors add wear and tear on our hiking trails (and now we see graffiti on our new east shore hwy 28 walking path). Our limited parking along the hwy forces visitors to take chances as they park, often illegally. Our environment is being impacted by the amount of trash that is left behind on our trails.
As residents and business owners we need to consider the impact of increasing tourism and how to balance that and keep our Village a wonderful place to live.
As of mid October, 212 houses, 192 condos, and 65 PUD’s have sold in Incline in 2020. New listings are becoming fewer with only 7 this last week.
Lastly, if you haven’t started to winterize your home and you plan to migrate to a warmer climate, now is the time to make sure that home is protected against burst water pipes, rodents, ice damage, or thieves. If you have lived in the Village for a while, you will certainly know what I mean. Stay safe and prepare now.
